Mirage was asked to provide a product to machine both sides of heat exchangers up to 3m diameter.
Our MM1000i and MM3000i flange facing machines were supplied with specially designed mounting and jacking plates for clamping onto the heat exchanger. The solution uses expanding bolts and a mechanism to centralize and level the plates prior to mounting the machine.
This method is now used regularly, and heat exchanger mounting kits for our flange facers are now part of the standard Mirage product range.
Provide a machine to enable slots for heat exchanger division plates to be machined effectively. These division slots can get badly corroded and require welding then re-machining to original specification.
Provision of a Mirage 2-axis milling rail to mount onto end of the heat exchanger using a a two bolt mounting system. This allows both fast mounting and alignment.
The machine is then levelled and aligned from the heat exchanger’s flange face and the division plate re-machined.
The time saved is significant – as in the majority of cases the heat exchanger can be machined in-situ with the tubes left in place.
